Every Hero Has A Story for elementary students age 3 through 5th grade is structured the same as last year with children attending one hour sessions each Thursday beginning June 4 through July 9. Preschoolers meet at 10:15 am, Park students meet at 1:00 pm, and Central students meet at 2:30 pm. In addition, elementary students will be encouraged to reach reading goals and participate in additional special events such as a movie showing of Big Hero 6 and a superhero costume parade.
UNMASK is the title of the Middle School program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This program features EMT Terry David as guest speaker, the superhero movie The Dark Knight, superhero selfies, black light art, and reading challenges.
Adults will be given opportunities to Escape the Ordinary through a special movie night featuring McFarland USA and a Blind Date with a Book.
All summer reading participants are invited to vote on their favorite hero “Tournament Bracket Style” and to write an essay (any length) answering the question Who is My Hero and Why?
